Prenatal yoga with Tianjin Lawless-Jennings

Tianjin began practising yoga as a young teenager. She very quickly felt the benefits of the practice and soon realised how yoga positively affected her life in many ways and on many levels. Over the years as she studied, worked in the corporate and food industries, started a family business, and traveled, her yoga practice was something she always turned to.

In 2010 she dove into her first Vinyasa and Hatha Yoga Teacher Training with the International Yoga Teachers Association (IYTA) in Australia. She started teaching in Australia, continued to further her yoga education and then relocated to Amsterdam to continue this journey. During her first pregnancy she qualified in Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga in London and she continued her studies into Ayurveda in the Netherlands, as well as running workshops and retreats in Europe.

Tianjin’s classes adapt with the ever-changing seasons as they affect the way we move in our body and how the mind functions. She often refers to the main organ systems (meridians / energy pathways) of the body, inspired by the Japanese style which she practiced under her Mentor in Australia. Her Ayurveda studies also play a large role in her teachings. Her classes are fun, dynamic, seasonal, strengthening and accessible. And she enjoys sharing her passion and knowledge of yoga in her classes.

Through particular yoga asana, pranayama, meditation, and establishing a realistic daily routine, Tianjin believes that we can keep our bodies and minds vital and balanced as we move through the seasons.

Pregnancy yoga

Mothers-to-be undergo many changes to their physical and emotional being during their 9 months of pregnancy as they support and create a new life. Pregnancy Yoga is a beautiful way to embrace this time and to feel your optimum through specific movement (Asana), breath work (pranayama), meditation and relaxation.

As a holistic system of self-healing and spiritual growth, Ayurveda and Yoga has much to offer the pregnant woman and for a smooth transition into becoming a Mother. In these classes we find balance between strengthening and stabilising postures to build stamina, courage and power in the body as you prepare for birth, combined with stretching and relaxation to create space for you and your growing baby and to connect within. With this movement we use simple breathing techniques to help alleviate tension that accumulates during pregnancy and as a great practice for birth preparation. Each class will end in a much-needed blissful relaxation!
