WORKSHOPS:
THE CONNECTED SPINE: A Workshop on Spinal Alignment in Yoga with Olivia Kerr
Saturday 19 Sept 11:00-13:00pm
Come and join Olivia Kerr, local Chiropractor at Village Chiropractic Manly and your resident yoga teacher at D-F studio.
Unlock the full potential of your yoga practice by understanding the mechanics of your posture. This workshop breaks down the normal range of motion across all three regions of the spine. Together, we will unpack how targeted yoga poses move the spine through its healthy, functional ranges.
We will also explore the vital concept of spinal stability, discovering how a strong foundation directly enhances your overall mobility. You will walk away with precise, practical cueing tools to establish and maintain this core stability throughout your flow. The goal of this workshop is to empower you with accessible knowledge to elevate your movement patterns both on and off the mat.
CALM FROM THE INSIDE OUT: A Naturopathic Approach to Stress with Tracey Loughran
Saturday 19 Sept 14:00-15:30pm
Stress is something we all experience, but understanding why the body stays in a state of stress — and what can actually be done about it — is another matter.
Join experienced naturopath Tracey for a practical, evidence-based seminar on stress through a holistic lens, drawing on the latest research and 20+ years of clinical experience. Tracey will look beyond “managing stress” to explore what drives and perpetuates the stress response, including cortisol, adrenal function, hormone balance, gut health, sleep and nutrition. She’ll also cut through the supplement confusion, taking a food-first approach and covering where targeted nutritional and herbal medicine may genuinely help.
MEDITATION, STRIPPED BACK. Honest, Vulnerable, & Sincere with Mark Edwards
Saturday 19 Sept 18:00-19:30pm
Most people have an idea in their mind about meditation. Cross-legged, eyes closed, mind gone blank, maybe some incense, even an outfit. Dare I call it the “Instagram version?”
This is a relaxed and open session for anyone who has an interest in meditation, maybe anyone who already has a practice, and for anyone who’s tried it, found it confusing, and quietly given up.
Run by Mark from The School of Modern Meditation (SOMM), it strips the practice back to the basics, highlighting the juicy, ah-ha moments where it moves from just a practice (I really should meditate) to a passion, (I look forward to my meditation, oh, and I also want to know more)…where it comes from, what it’s actually doing, and why so much of the popular version kinda misses the point.
NEUROSCIENCE OF MENTAL HEALTH and Nervous System Regulation with Lauren Fitzpatrick
Sunday 20 Sept 11:00-12:30
A 1-hour talk where you will be guided through the neuroscience of the physical, emotional, and psychological patterns of anxiety, depression, and nervous system overwhelm.
Lauren will answer the question of WHY these conditions develop in the body, how they might manifest as physical symptoms, and provide simple tips to help repattern the nervous system so change can occur. Bringing you science-backed techniques, herbal medicine and philosophical musings, we dive into how mental health extends so much further than just the mind.
Run by Lauren Fitzpatrick, a neuroscientist and wild herbalist who specialises in mind-body interface healing. Lauren applies her academic knowledge of the human body and mind to reveal imbalances in the system, while using herbal medicine, biosyncing, and ancient/indigenous practices from around the world to rewire your health and get you back to its natural rhythms.
THE KOSHAS – The Five Layers of Self with Marty Coles
Sunday 20 Sept 13:00-14:30
We often think of ourselves as a single, fixed thing, but yogic philosophy offers a different view — one made up of five interwoven layers, known as the Koshas, moving from the physical body through to our deepest sense of awareness.
Join senior yoga teacher Marty Coles for an interactive 90-minute workshop exploring this ancient framework through discussion, reflection, and practical exercises, looking at how the body, energy, mind and deeper awareness all influence one another. Come ready to reflect, share and question, as we explore how these teachings can shape not only how we practise yoga, but how we live day to day.
Marty Coles is a senior yoga teacher and E-RYT 500 Yoga Alliance-certified instructor with over 15 years’ experience in yoga and sports coaching. He has guided thousands of students, trained hundreds of teachers, and leads D-F Studio’s 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training.
