Focused on topics written about in Sherrie Laryse’s latest book, The Body Talks Back, this free event includes a detailed discussion about multiple aspects of meditation and the mindbody connection.

If you’re curious about meditation, want to take your practice to a deeper level or learn a new technique, or a seasoned meditator who already appreciates the insightful gifts that the practice offers, you’ll enjoy this D-F event.

Your hosts for the discussion are D-F teachers Marty Coles and Sherrie Laryse.

Marty Coles is a long-time yogi and meditator, passionate about sharing the spiritual nature of the practice and its capacity to both awaken and strengthen the mindbody connection.

Sherrie is an author who writes about emotional intelligence, and how her own long-standing, yet ever-evolving meditation practice helps her to process the rough experiences in life, both physically and emotionally.

Expect this discussion to delve into the mindbody connection in detail. Expect to hear how meditation builds mental and emotional resilience and forges peace in unlikely situations. Expect to learn how to listen to your body’s wisdom, and honour the powerful link between our emotions, thoughts, and physical feelings. Expect to be a part of a potent and fascinating conversation that will make you feel alive and excited about this crazy phenomenon that life is.

Join us for a deep dive into what it means to live life as a meditator in the modern world.

Elise Griffin

Vinyasa | Strength + Soul

With over 17 years of personal yoga practice and a strong background in the fitness and wellness industry, Elise brings a depth of experience, intelligence, and embodied understanding to her teaching. With a Bachelor’s degree in Sport & Exercise Science and more than a decade working as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and movement coach, Elise bridges the gap between strength, mobility, and mindful movement.

Elise discovered yoga as a powerful complement to her athletic training, and over time it became a central pillar in how she moves, lives, and connects. Her approach is informed by both science and lived experience, blending functional strength, breath awareness, and fluid sequencing. Her classes invite students to feel strong, capable, and supported – meeting their edge with curiosity rather than force.

Elise is deeply passionate about the way yoga supports not only physical health, but nervous system regulation, emotional resilience, and connection. Her classes offer a space that encourages students to build trust in their bodies and confidence in their practice.

Above all, Elise is committed to creating a welcoming environment where students can deepen their relationship with movement and carry the benefits of their practice beyond the mat and into everyday life.
